Launch application on boot

I like my two Kinoma Elements, and have already completed two projects with them. But they are not 100% stable yet and I need to reboot them every so often. That's OK, but it's annoying that I have to restart my application manually every time.

How do I launch an application on boot? I didn't find anything about that in the documentation.

  • Glad you're enjoying them! You can make an application run automatically using the command line interface. Assuming your application file is called main.js, you would enter the following commands:

    setenv APPLICATION main
    saveenv
    reboot

  • Awesome, works like a charm. Thanks!

  • This doesn't work for me. Is there a way to check that I have it set up correctly?

  • Yep--you can check by entering

    getenv APPLICATION

Make sure to install the application before setting the environment variable. And if your application file is named something other than main.js you'll need to account for that. For example, if it's test.js you would enter

    setenv APPLICATION test
    saveenv
    reboot

  • getenv showed me what I was doing wrong. I wasn't following directions.

    Thanks, Peter
