Cannot connect

edited May 2016 in Kinoma Element

I'm trying to connect to my new Kinoma Element. I'm on linux, so the Kinoma IDE is not an option for me, so I've tried both telnet (http://kinoma.com/develop/documentation/element/#programmers-guide-to-kinoma-element-telnet) and USB (http://kinoma.com/develop/documentation/element/#programmers-guide-to-kinoma-element-usb). However I can't seem to get either to work.

Like others have reported, my Element blinks blue. I can see an SSID k5-somedigits, and can connect to that, but after that the telnet command doesn't do anything and I don't know the MAC address. So I tried USB.

On USB, /dev/cu.* doesn't exist, but I realized, like (http://forum.kinoma.com/discussion/672/usb-serial-connection#latest) that the device is called /dev/ttyACM0, or alternatively, /dev/serial/by-id/usb-MARVELL_MARVEL.... However when using cu to connect, all I get is:

sudo cu -l /dev/ttyACM0

cu: open (/dev/ttyACM0): Permission denied

cu: /dev/ttyACM0: Line in use
