Having two devices communicate with each other

Hi! We're trying to implement a functionality of our app where two devices can communicate with each other when a certain functionality is enabled. but the handler currently discovers the device that we want (basically hard-coded). We're wondering if there is a way to use a unique identification to do this. A couple ways we thought of doing this were: - Having a device that acts as a database for all the devices and releases information upon request - Naming each device when the phone app starts and using these names to find the device?

Any thoughts if either of these would work, or if there's a better way to do it?

  • So, are you setting up a "server" to feed different information (or commands) to different clients as they are discovered? Just trying to get a higher level picture of what you're doing so I can advise.
